Vancouver’s Skal golf tournament date announced
The Mylora Executive Golf Club, located in Richmond, BC, is the venue choice for this year’s Vancouver Skal Ron Groves Memorial Golf Tournament.
Ron Groves was a long standing volunteer and former executive director of Skal in Vancouver.
The event will take place on June 21, with a shotgun start at 2:00 p.m. A cost of $139 includes entry in the KP (closest to the pin) shootout, the golf game and dinner.
Mylora Golf Club is an executive course with 15 Par 3’s, which are perfect for a KP contest, said tournament organizer Randy Vannatter. “It also has three Par 4’s that we can use for long drive contests,” he said.
Exciting prizes
Winners of those contests will take home some handsome payouts. For example, “we shoot for $1,000-plus in prizes on the 15 Par 3’s,” said Vannatter. Prizes include hotel stays, restaurant gift cards, Sabai Thai spa packages for men or women and horse/carriage rides in Stanley Park.
“Skal is the tourism executive association for over 40 sectors of the tourism industry,” said Vannatter. “Skal Clubs can be found in over 300 cities in the world. Vancouver is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year in September.”
Net proceeds from the tournament go to Vancouver Skal Club’s tourism scholarship fund. Deadline to register is June 17.
