Trump’s second term: What can the travel industry expect?

The travel industry is quietly assessing what the impact of a Donald Trump presidency will be after his election as the 47th president of the United States last night (Nov. 5).

Early morning reports indicated that the stocks of three of the biggest U.S. airlines were up in pre-trading on the morning of Nov. 6, while aviation industry insiders are suggesting a Trump Administration will take a hands-off approach to airline industry regulations.

One area that could be in for change is visa rules as Trump, during his first administration implemented tighter visa policies and increased scrutiny of travellers from particular destinations.

And as industry executives assess the situation, the bottom line, is simply that right now, it is not clear on how Trump’s return to office will impact travel and tourism to the U.S.

Stay tuned, there will be more.
