TICO Ready To Meet The Challenges Of The Future

In a conversation with Canadian Travel Press, Richard Smart, President & CEO of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), observes that while “the challenges of the pandemic are far from over, but there is a sense that we’re finally on the path to recovery.”

Smart told CTP that: “We’re feeling a sense of optimism from industry. The challenges of the pandemic are far from over, but there is a sense that we’re finally on the path to recovery. Consumers are increasingly feeling confident travelling again. Public health restrictions continue to be lifted at the border.”

However, he added: “We do hear about ongoing challenges with the broader travel ecosystem, such as airline delays and cancellations, capacity constraints and labour shortages. The economy and inflation are a concern, too.”

But Smart was also quick to note that “throughout the pandemic, travel professionals have shown clients their value and expertise. That will only continue as we navigate the different phases of recovery.”
