TICO charges
Shelley D’Angelo, o/a Contessa Vacations, has been charged with one count of operating as a travel agent without registration contrary to the Ontario Travel Industry Act. D’Angelo operated in Toronto and elsewhere in Ontario. A court appearance is scheduled for June 14 in Toronto. In another case, Aamir Rashid has been charged with two counts of operating as a travel agent without registration. Rashid previously worked for Minfare Travel Inc. in Mississauga. Minfare Travel Inc.’s registration under the Travel Industry Act was revoked on May 25, 2011. A court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7 in Brampton. In a related matter, Shireen Akhtar and Minfare Travel Inc. have been charged with one count each of failing to maintain trust accounts contrary to the Ontario Travel Industry Act. Minfare Travel Inc.’s registration under the Travel Industry Act was revoked on May 25, 2011. Akhtar is the president of Minfare Travel Inc. A court appearance is scheduled for Aug. 7 in Brampton.
