TIAO appoints Siegwart as new president, CEO
Andrew Siegwart has been appointed President & CEO of the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario (TIAO).
Siegwart, who’s appointment is effective Jan. 21, 2024, is a seasoned professional with a proven track record in leadership, advocacy, and community development in tourism and related sectors, will lead the organization into a new era of growth and innovation.
Rebecca Mackenzie, Chair of the TIAO Board of Directors, said: “Andrew’s leadership, advocacy skills, and commitment to community development make him the ideal choice to lead our organization forward.”
Mackenzie continued: “Tourism will continue to be a vital economic and social driver for Ontario and TIAO will provide thoughtful leadership to ensure the industry is well positioned to maximize the opportunity.”
Siegwart brings a wealth of experience and a diverse skill set to his role at TIAO. In his eight years as president and CEO of the Blue Mountain Village Association (BMVA), he delivered exceptional advocacy results by building stakeholder coalitions, strengthening government relationships, and raising the organization’s public profile.
Under his leadership, BMVA achieved significant milestones, including increased member engagement, award-winning destination marketing programs, financial sustainability, and regional economic development.
Previously, as senior vice-president at the Retail Council of Canada (RCC), he successfully led critical business units and specialized teams, including events, education, sponsorship, communications, membership, research, and program development.
His advocacy efforts, particularly in addressing key issues such as labor supply and workforce development, demonstrated his ability to work with a diverse membership base, tackle emerging challenges, and build strong coalitions and partnerships.
Commenting on his appointment, Siegwart said: “I look forward to collaborating with our members, industry partners, and government to ensure the tourism industry remains a strong catalyst for economic, cultural, and social growth across the province.”
In his new role as president & CEO of TIAO, Siegwart will guide the organization in promoting and advancing Ontario’s tourism industry while ensuring its growth, sustainability, and alignment with important societal goals.
