Spotlight on Turkey

Turkish tourism authorities got the word out about their homeland in Toronto Friday night.

The Turkish Consulate General’s Culture and Information Office in Toronto had Judith Liberman, a France-born storyteller who fell in love with Turkish culture and now lives in Istanbul where she has become a pioneer in the Turkish story-telling movement, promote the country before an audience on hand for weekly Friday Royal Ontario Museum events.

The Turkish-speaking Liberman, in Toronto for the 2018 Toronto Storytelling Festival, also hosts Istanbul radio shows and mentors other Turkish storytellers through workshops, has become passionate about her adopted country.

Pictured at the event are Derya Serbetci Acar, who oversees Turkish tourism promotion efforts in Canada, Liberman, and the Jamaica Tourist Board’s Philip Rose, who has an appreciation for Turkish culture and attended Liberman’s show.
