Shangri-La Launches Summer Experiences
Shangri-La is launching summer experiences to support its new partnership with Make-A-Wish International at select hotels in the Middle East, Europe, India, the Indian Ocean, and Canada.
Specially created restaurant experiences and ‘Make-A-Wish Come True’ stays will run from late June until mid-October. With each booking, Shangri-La will donate a percentage of the proceeds to help Make-A-Wish International grant wishes around the world for every eligible child with critical illnesses.
Shangri-La’s ‘Make-A-Wish Come True’ stay offers a minimum one night stay for two guests, including breakfast and a special local treat inspired by each hotel’s destination.
Taking inspiration from the charity’s iconic star symbol, guests who book the ‘Make-A-Wish Come True’ stay in London will enjoy locally-inspired amenities such as delectable star cakes, made using chocolate from London’s Borough Market at Shangri-La The Shard, London.
Additionally, an authentic Baklava Butler dedicated experience will be offered at Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul; Shangri-La Toronto will offer guests honey infused treats made using the hotel’s very own beehive on the third floor terrace; and a sweet and savoury ‘Local Love’ delicacy from Shangri-La Bengaluru in India using the finest of local ingredients, amongst other locally inspired signature amenities.
Hotels are also offering specially created restaurant experiences with most donating a minimum of five percent of proceeds from each booking to the charity. From a five-course tasting menu at TING at Shangri-La The Shard, London to specially created afternoon teas across properties in Bangalore, Istanbul, New Delhi and more.
With special stays and gastronomic delights, Shangri-La guests can immerse themselves in local luxury whilst supporting the incredible efforts of Make-A-Wish International, ensuring their travels help to make life changing differences to children with critical illness.
The collaboration with Make-A-Wish International involves three campaigns running across the next 12 months. Following the summer experiences, hotels will unveil their festive campaign to include the creation of a bespoke, hand-made tiger toys paying homage to Shangri-La’s Asian heritage and the Year of the Tiger to launch on World Children’s Day, Nov. 20, 2022. 100 percent of proceeds from the toy will be given to Make-A-Wish International. Looking ahead, Shangri-La will celebrate Chinese New Year from Jan. 22, 2023 with the third campaign instalment and the creation of mystical Wishing Trees across select hotels to bring a sense of wonderment to start the New Year.
As well as various offers from now until spring 2023, Shangri-La is working closely with the charity to help grant wishes to children with critical illness, creating memories for families to cherish forever.
The group’s first wish since the partnership launched took place recently at Shangri-La The Shard, London with a young girl staying in the hotel’s top Shangri-La suite. A wish has the ability to transform the lives of wish children and their families during some of the most difficult times, giving a sense of hope and escapism when needed most. Through partnering with Make-A-Wish International, Shangri-La invites guests to make a difference with their travels by supporting this essential cause to help children experience the power of imagination and the strength it brings.
