Set sail on an Uncharted Cruise with Variety Cruises
Variety Cruises is bringing intrepid travellers along on a mystery journey for the company’s first-ever Uncharted Cruise, promising an unforgettable journey through the azure waters of Greece.
The sailing, hosted by the company’s third-generation CEO, Filippos Venetopoulos, was launched in celebration of the company’s 75th anniversary.
All proceeds from the trip will go to Variety Cares, the company’s nonprofit foundation that supports initiatives striving for clean oceans, gender equality, and education for all.
The Uncharted Cruise was designed to be an immersive experience, diving deeper into the local history and culture of the journey’s mystery destinations. The eight-day limited edition cruise, which departs from Athens on Aug. 23, will include visits to “captivating islands, interactive workshops, several shore excursions and swimming stops, and more, with each destination only being revealed to passengers 24 hours ahead of time.”
Venetopoulos said: “Our maritime legacy dates back to 1949, and on this cruise we’re bringing that rich heritage to life in the style of shipping legends like Aristotle Onassis. Not knowing the exact stops ahead of time allows for a true exploration of the season, the weather, and the winds, enabling us to follow the best course Greece has to offer.”
Starting from US$2,490 per person, the Uncharted Cruise includes accommodation in double or twin cabins; breakfast and one meal daily, including a welcome cocktail, Greek Night evening, BBQ and Captain’s Dinner; use of fishing and snorkeling equipment; and several shore excursions, including meals at local restaurants.
Port charges, crew tips and additional beverages are not included.
Onboard the 36 cabin M/Y Variety Voyager mega yacht, passengers can enjoy a 360° Sun Deck for taking in the views and relaxing, a premium bar and lounge, and a spa & fitn ess suite, complete with gym equipment and sauna.
All proceeds from the cruise will benefit Variety Cares, the company’s non-profit foundation that aims to engage its guests in meaningful communication and exchange of values with the local communities it visits.
For example, Variety built The Lamin Koto School in Kuntaur village, Gambia, a charitable project that was funded by donations of past passengers and Variety Cruises – that today provides a source of clean water and education to 100 students in a village explored on the company’s West Africa cruise.
The Rose Museum, a building currently under construction on the school’s property, will help expand classroom facilities and house special objects and historical artifacts donated by the Explorers Club in order to deepen educational opportunities.
