Rockwood Adventures Goes Local, Launches New Brand
BC Adventure Company (BCAC) is a new, boutique brand, being launched by Vancouver-based luxury tour operator Rockwood Adventures that will target both BC residents and Canadian travellers with single and multi-day private excursions in British Columbia.
After the global pandemic hit in 2020, Rockwood Adventures, whose clientele was comprised solely of international visitors – experienced a zero-revenue year. Owners Alasdair Douglas and Nancy Celetti decided to channel their efforts toward attracting local Canadian businesses.
Alasdair Douglas, Rockwood Adventures’ managing director and co-owner, explained that: “Rockwood represents to our wholesale clients a solid partnership where we take care of the ‘adventure’ needs of international customers. Our goal is to maintain the positioning with our Rockwood brand.”
With that in mind, BC Adventure Company was born with a retail focus on the Canadian domestic market, with heightened urban and wilderness escapes, including Indigenous, and multi-day culinary adventures, along with special occasion events spanning engagements, weddings, and celebrations of life.
Douglas observed: “With every challenge, there is an opportunity, Nancy and I are very excited about the partnerships we’ve forged with fellow BC tourism businesses, global brands and exceptional individuals to bring BC Adventure Company to life.”
And he continued: “We are passionate about offering one-of-a-kind experiences to guests seeking an escape from the everyday. Our mantra is: The finest gift is the gift of time. Perhaps one perfect, unforgettable day.”
Supported by its guides, hotels, wineries, wedding and event planners, BCAC targets intimate groups. Its tours offer Rockwood classics, including Destination Canada’s designated Canadian Signature Experiences Bowen Island: Coastal Rainforest Adventure by Land, Sea and Air.
New offerings include Fantastic Fairmont Al Fresco Adventure Packages in partnership with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts.
The company’s current lineup also features backcountry helicopter wedding & engagement events over the Fraser Valley, where guests soar over peaks and waterfalls before settling in for the afternoon at a BC winery; a canyoneering journey in North Vancouver, complete with explorations of temperate rainforest and refreshing dips in crystal clear pools; and guided multi-day backpacking treks to gorgeous spots like Garibaldi Lake near Whistler.
In summer 2021, BCAC will debut “Meet the Insiders Outside: Okanagan Savouring Sustainability Adventure,” an all-inclusive three-to-five-night customizable experience where guests are entertained and escorted across the Okanagan with a personal guide.
They’ll stay at the luxury all-suite hotel Spirit Ridge, Unbound Collection by Hyatt, sample the region’s flavourful bounty, and converse with some of the Okanagan’s most recognized and celebrated personalities — including world-class chefs, Chief Clarence Louie of Osoyoos Indian Band (OIB), one of Canada’s seven Masters of Wine, vintners and farmers, and global leaders in sustainable culinary and wine experiences.
