A Devastating Decision

Red Label Vacations Inc., the parent company of TravelBrands, redtag.ca, itravel200 and The Travel Experts, has announced that it is temporarily laying off multiple employees. The limited time layoff is to take place effective immediately.

Frank Demarinis, CEO of RLV, said: “COVID-19 has had a tremendous impact globally and especially on the travel industry. Though we know that we will come out of this pandemic stronger and more resilient, the current market conditions, unfortunately, forced us to make this devastating decision.”

Demarinis continued: “I am hopeful that these layoffs will be short-lived and we look forward to getting back to full staffing in due time. Now, more than ever, we must strive to keep our spirits high and think of what is most important in life – our health and the well-being of our family and friends, including our extended work family.”

And he added: “I thank all of my RLV family for their patience and understanding, our success has always been built on their hard work and dedication.”

The layoffs are spread company wide, affecting all departments and teams. RLV ensures [assures] partners, customers and travel agents that the necessary staff are still working to handle all call volumes and travel product enquiries.

The company said that it will reevaluate sales and external factors in a few weeks to determine the next steps. This may include more temporary layoffs or, hopefully, having everyone back to work full time.
