Qantas appoints new director of sales for Canada

Qantas has recently appointed a new director of sales for Canada, based in Vancouver. James Howey, formerly of Air Canada, started work in his new position in early October.

Howey is tasked with strengthening the Australian flag carrier’s presence in the Canadian marketplace and further developing Qantas’ relationships with the Canadian travel trade, corporate clients and key government stakeholders.

He joins Qantas following a 27-year tenure with Air Canada, where he was employed in various roles in business development, sales and global account management.

Howey said he was proud to join Qantas as the Australian flag carrier continues to expand its international network.

“Together with the Americas team, I look forward to building Qantas’ presence in Canada and working directly with our trade partners to support our nonstop service from Vancouver to Sydney, as well as via our U.S. gateways.”

Qantas operates three nonstop return flights per week from Vancouver to Sydney aboard a B787 Dreamliner aircraft. At this point, there are no plans for changes in service frequencies on the route, says Qantas.

The carrier also operates over 40 flights per week to Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne from its U.S. hubs in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, Dallas and New York.
