Phillip Jones, president and CEO of the Dallas Visitors and Convention Bureau, is pictured in dress-down mode with Canadian representative Sana Keller at a media lunch in Montreal. A couple of days prior to the lunch, Jones completed the gruelling Mont Tremblant Ironman triathlon and, not wanting to be burdened with extra luggage, arranged to have his duds couriered. They never arrived. According to Jones, almost 375,000 Canadians visited Dallas in 2010 and he expects an increase for 2011, when the final numbers are in. He told the press group that the city is no longer the Dallas of J.R. Ewing, but a destination that’s seen a $15 billion infrastructure spending spree over the past five years, resulting in a dynamic arts and culture scene, world-class restaurants, new parks and museums and a current count of 70,000 hotel rooms.
