The Mexican state of Oaxaca can accommodate those seeking a beach vacation with plenty of culture added in. Pia Oberholzer, manager of the Huatulco Hotel Association, told a Toronto gathering Tuesday that Oaxaca “is easily the most traditional Mexican state,” with the jurisdiction having numerous pre-Hispanic influences, while the city of Oaxaca is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and “the most beautiful colonial city in Mexico.” The Pacific coast resort community of Huatulco is farther south than Cancun and has warm water in nine bays, she continued. Huatulco is carefully managing its growth and doesn’t have high rises, Oberholzer added. Pictured (l-r) are Monica Garcia, Mexico Tourism Board.
