Princess Cruises president Jan Swartz (c) and chief medical officer Grant Tarling (centre right) present a check for $832,000 to (l-r) Nickki Peavey, vice-president of corporate relations, Kathy Rogers, executive vice-president and Silke Rible, senior national accounts manager of the American Heart Association (AHA). The money was raised as part of the line’s fundraising cruise this past February to support heart health. The special sailing was fully themed around this important cause and was part of the company’s “Cruising for a Cause” program. The special cruise, which fittingly took place over Valentine’s Day aboard Ruby Princess, included a variety of activities and educational opportunities focused on heart-healthy living, including training in the American Heart Association’s Hands-Only CPR; seminars on how to better manage stress, diet and exercise; a survivor’s reception for those who had overcome heart disease; complimentary blood pressure screenings; and a fundraising walk on deck.
