Lucerne will host the Adventure Travel World Summit Oct. 8-11, an event that will put the Swiss city squarely in the international spotlight, with Chris Chesak — the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s vice-president of business development — praising the destination as a “pretty cool venue” during a Tuesday gathering in Toronto. Urs Eberhard, Switzerland Tourism’s executive vice-president markets & MICE, in turn told the audience that his homeland is well suited for the event, with 23% of the alpine nation being protected from development. “It’s really a natural playground,” he said of Switzerland. Natural attributes include the largest waterfall in Europe in a country where landscapes feature both vineyards and glaciers. Seen here (l-r) are Ursula Beamish-Mader of Switzerland Tourism, the Adventure Travel Trade Association’s Meredith Guzy and Chesak, and Switzerland Tourism’s Mirko Capodanno and Eberhard.
