The 14th edition of Los Cabos Tourism Board event, Los Cabos VIP Summit, is underway featuring an innovative technological platform that allows professionals in the tourism industry, including airlines, wholesale travel agencies, tour operators, OTAS, hoteliers, and tourism companies, to connect with local experts and learn about the destination.
“The VIP Summit remains the most relevant business program for Los Cabos. The migration to a virtual platform this year allows for further participation of high-level purchasing company representatives across key markets. This year we look to strengthen our partnerships that have allowed us to successfully face the current health crisis,” said Rodrigo Esponda, Managing Director of the Los Cabos Tourism Board.
In the 2020 edition of Los Cabos VIP Summit, 737 appointments have been made through the system between 56 destination companies (hotels, DMCs and service providers) and 47 purchasing companies from more than 15 countries: Mexico, United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Australia, Brazil, Colombia, Peru, Argentina, Korea and India. This represents 76% of total available appointments.
In addition to these meetings, it is anticipated that participants will look for additional meetings outside the system and add more during the day of the event, so the number of appointments is expected to increase.
Along with these meetings, this year the VIP Summit will innovate by incorporating two additional items on the agenda. The first is a “virtual expo” for travel agents from around the world, which will take place on November 11. This division of appointments allows for sufficient spaces to be offered for high-level meetings with tour operators, providing travel agents the attention they deserve.
The second innovation is a robust, on-demand educational program with different virtual presentations. These programs feature prominent industry leaders, including Lisa Weier-Parilla from Skift, who will present the most relevant data on the future of the travel industry and changes in consumer patterns. There will also be a panel of experts called “Travel Trends and 2021 Perspectives” in which Ray Snisky, ALG Vacations Group President; Jared Harckham, ICF Managing Director VP Aviation Consulting, and Freddy Domínguez, Expedia Group VP for Latin America and the Caribbean.
Summit participants will be able to choose between the 10 destination seminars that will be available on demand, in addition to a module called “Reformulating Destination Marketing” with content from the Skift Global Forum 2020, the most recognized discussion forum for the international tourism industry.
The VIP Summit 2020 is a space that seeks to promote the tourism activity in Los Cabos and position the destination as one of the most important travel spots in Mexico. This year will be the perfect opportunity to continue to strengthen the destination’s brand and strategic partnerships to ensure a successful recovery in 2021.
