The Israel Government Tourist Office is inviting people to literally follow in the footsteps of Jesus. The office is promoting its Sea of Galilee-area Gospel Trail, a hiking route that works its way through an area steeped in Biblical history. Hikers will “see what Jesus saw and what he felt 2,000 years ago,” Ami Allon, the office’s consul-general for Canada, said during a Toronto gathering. Guide Avi Farjoun of Journeys in the Holyland said hiking enables visitors to “recreate Jesus’ lifestyle… If you want to walk in his footsteps, the bus would not be the right transportation.” Farjoun (l) and Allon are pictured flanking a map of the Sea of Galilee.
