Egyptian tourism authorities are hailing the start of EgyptAir’s non-stop Toronto-Cairo service as a huge step forward for Egypt’s tourist trade. “It’s a turning point in our marketing strategy. I’m very optimistic,” Mostafa Sallam, who oversees the Egyptian Tourist Authority’s Canadian office, said Tuesday at a Toronto reception. “This is a moment we’ve all been waiting for,” added Wael Abou El Magd, Egypt’s ambassador to Canada, who said the B777 service will “build bridges” between Canada and Egypt.
