Sir Richard Branson recently celebrated the opening of his new luxury safari camp, Mahali Mzuri, with a traditional Kenyan ceremony. The Mahali Mzuri safari camp is located within the Motorogi Conservancy in the Maasai Mara about 240 km due west of Nairobi, and it’s Branson’s latest addition to the Virgin Limited Edition portfolio. Branson said at the opening: “It was an honour and so much fun to participate in the ceremony. It’s a fantastic way to celebrate the official opening of Mahali Mzuri and I’m thrilled that so many of the local community have made it here to observe and take part in what was a beautifully traditional and fitting way of launching our new safari camp.” Joining Branson at the event was Kenyan President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and cabinet Secretaries of Tourism and Transport & Infrastructure, Hon. Phyllis Kandie and Hon. Michael Kamau. Seen here, from l to r, are Hon. Phyllis Kandie, Sir Richard Branson, President Kenyatta and Kishan Gehlot of the Intex Group, a partner in the project.
