Outer Shores Expeditions Unveils 2023 Voyages
Outer Shores Expeditions has unveiled its 2023 Expedition Schedule. Once again next season, the classic wooden schooner Passing Cloud will be returning to the Great Bear Rainforest and the Haida Gwaii Archipelago for 8- and 9-night voyages that combine pristine wilderness, amazing wildlife, expert guides, luxurious accommodations, exceptional service, and chef-prepared gourmet meals.
New for 2023, Outer Shores is combining stays at the all-inclusive boutique wilderness resort Outer Shore Lodge on West Vancouver Island with daily excursions aboard Passing Cloud into Barkley Sound and the Broken Group Islands.
From March to May 2023, Passing Cloud will home port from Bamfield, British Columbia, located on the edge of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve, to deliver a series of 4-night, 5-night, and 7-night Outer Shores experiences direct to guests from Outer Shores Lodge.
This marks the first time the two Outer Shores experiences — sailing expeditions and all-inclusive lodge stays — have been brought together in one place. Outer Shores Expeditions will be starting the combination lodge and ship experience with two of BC’s most exciting ecological events; the annual Pacific herring spawn and the grey whale migration in early March.
Russell Markel, Founder & Owner, Outer Shores Expeditions and Co-owner of Outer Shores Lodge, said: “Our guests have been asking when Passing Cloud would be sailing from Outer Shores Lodge since we announced its opening. And our team is also excited about the idea of combining the two unique Outer Shores experiences.”
Markel continued: “We believe the shorter durations of the combination sailing/lodge stays will also appeal to those guests who might feel that our typical expedition could be a little long for them. Now they can experience both the extra comforts of staying at the lodge with the thrill of sailing aboard Passing Cloud.”
Following Passing Cloud’s Bamfield spring residency, it will sail five Haida Gwaii expeditions, beginning July 4, 2023, which will be followed by five Great Bear Rainforest expeditions, from late-August to early October, finishing the season with a the annual photography tour with wildlife, landscape, and seascape photographer James Thompson from Oct. 1 to Oct. 9, 2023.
