One Dream Travel Covers The West On Educational Tour
Ricky Poon, VP of One Dream Travel in Vancouver, wants travel agents to know that they have the programs and the tools for selling effectively in a new world of post-pandemic travel retailing.
Poon led a short mission of travel partners to four cities in western Canada last week, including Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton. Management staff from One Dream Travel were joined by head office destination reps from Taiwan and the Philippines, as well as an executive team from China Airlines.
They each spent time to describe their own unique product offerings during the invitation-only dinner event. For instance, Soleil Tropicales of the Philippine Tourism Department led advisors through a description of the Philippines geography (7,600-plus islands) and tourism hotspots, before describing a new tourism promotions campaign titled “Be Part of the Fun,” and then screening the video.
Then Gail Chang, a marketing specialist for the Taiwan Tourism Bureau, gave a similar overview of geography and tourism essentials of the island nation. Her presentation also covered descriptions of lesser known attractions, including the mountainous Alishan district in central Taiwan, known for tea plantations and peaks reaching 2,200-plus metres, and accessible by train.
A team from China Airlines took turns presenting airline highpoints, including the fact that the carrier had returned to daily departures from Vancouver to Taipei, from the reduced frequencies imposed by the pandemic. Area sales manager Lillian Lin noted that a relatively new flight by China Airlines was operating between Taipei and Cebu in the Philippines. She also described the free half-day tours of Taiwan that are now available. And she highlighted the introduction of lie-flat seats on the airline’s A321 Neo jetliner – a first for any narrow-body aircraft.
These presentations were all summarized by Poon with the proposition that One Dream Travel can tie these services together in comprehensive programs for travel advisors to present to their clients. Available on a new platform, for instance, are programs that combine the Philippines and Taiwan on a variety of itineraries, with flights by China Airlines. Poon also delivered the news that One Dream Travel will operate an agent fam tour in September (Sept. 18) to the Philippines for four nights, then Taiwan for four nights.
The agent educational tour kicked off in Victoria, followed by Vancouver at the Sheraton Vancouver Airport hotel, then to Alberta for agent events in first Calgary, then Edmonton.
