New York State Rolls Out Red Carpet for Canadians
Through April 6, Canadians will find New York State an especially rewarding time to hit the malls, thanks to a new “I Shop NY” initiative, launched by the New York State Division of Tourism/I LOVE NEW YORK.
The limited-time promotion will provide a variety of deals, discounts and rewards via a downloadable “flexi” coupon that can be redeemed in person at participating New York State stores. The program will be promoted in key Canadian markets on TV and through digital media.
“We’re very excited about this program,” said Empire State Development Division of Tourism executive director Gavin Landry. “More than 4.5 million Canadians visit New York State every year, and 76% say that shopping is their top activity. This promotion is our way of saying ‘thank you’ to our neighbours to the north and to encourage them to explore some of New York’s 74,000 retail establishments during one of our quieter periods.”
I LOVE NEW YORK is partnering on the initiative with the Retail Council of New York State, which has co-ordinated participation of nearly 200 stores across the state. The “flexi” coupon for use in-store will give shoppers access to special discounts and rewards on purchases, and is available now at http://www.Iloveny.com/ishopny .
Shoppers can indulge in discounts at participating stores that include (but not limited to) Sorelle Art Gallery, Crabtree & Evelyn, select Lord & Taylor retail stores, select Macy’s, Silver Parrot, Yankee Candle, Serendipity Boutique and Adirondack Trading Company.
Participating regions include Greater Niagara and Buffalo. Just five minutes from Niagara Falls, Fashion Outlets Niagara recently completed a major expansion and renovation, adding 50 top designer brand outlets.
