Maui sailers welcome whales back to Hawaii

Teralani Sailing Adventures of Maui, which operates the snorkel catamarans, Teralani 2 and Teralani 3, welcomes the return of the migrating humpback whales to Maui. The peak whale season on Maui is from January through to the end of March, and whales have already been spotted in Maui waters. Humpback whales travel nearly 5,000 km of ocean in less than two months time from the chilly Gulf of Alaska to Hawaii for breeding and birthing in the warm, shallow waters. Approximately 6,000 to 8,000 humpback whales return to Hawaii each year. Exclusive whale watches are scheduled during whale season, and sunset sails, snorkel cruises and private charters are offered throughout the year. Teralani 2 and Teralani 3 are the largest sailing catamarans in the Kaanapali Beach area of Maui. At 65 feet, they each have a capacity of 49 passengers. Each catamaran has two heads, fresh water showers, utside and inside seating with tables and a covered salon and bar. The crew sails to coveted snorkel spots along the coastline, and to sunset and whale watching vantage points in season. (http://www.teralani.net)
