Lufthansa Group’s Edelweiss starting Halifax-Zurich route in 2025

The upcoming summer 2025 schedule will see robust expansion and a bolstered network for the Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest aviation company, in the United States and Canada.

In June and July, Edelweiss, Switzerland’s leading leisure airline and part of the Lufthansa Group, will begin direct flights from its Zurich hub to both Seattle, WA and Halifax, Nova Scotia, respectively.

With North America being the top foreign market for Lufthansa Group, the additional frequencies that the new Edelweiss flights will provide will be a welcome capacity increase for these two gateways.

Direct flights from Halifax to Zurich

Starting June 2, 2025, Edelweiss will operate twice-weekly nonstop flights between Seattle and Zurich, offering travellers a convenient and efficient way to explore the Swiss alps and beyond.

One month later, on July 3, 2025, Edelweiss will launch twice-weekly direct flights between Halifax and Zurich, bolstering the connection between Atlantic Canada and Europe.

Both routes will be operated by an Airbus A340-300, featuring 314 seats across three classes. Edelweiss Business Class offers exceptional comfort with 27 fully lie-flat seats. Economy Max includes 76 seats with 6 inches additional legroom and a variety of enhanced amenities, while the 211 seats in Economy Class ensure a relaxing flight experience. All passengers will enjoy a modern in-flight entertainment system with HD touchscreens, offering a wide selection of films, music, and games.

Lufthansa Group expansion across the U.S.

The Lufthansa Group, Europe’s largest airline group, offers unparalleled global connectivity through its robust network centered around its hubs in Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna, and Zurich.

With a strong presence in North America, boasting 31 gateways and 482 weekly flights, the group has solidified its commitment to the region. Highlighting this dedication, Lufthansa Group introduced six new direct routes this summer, including inaugural service to Minneapolis-St. Paul (MSP) and Raleigh-Durham (RDU).

Additionally, the group expanded capacity on two existing routes, demonstrating its focus on meeting growing customer demand. Edelweiss’ upcoming expansion within North America reemphasizes the importance of the region from a Group perspective.
