KTO, Air Canada & Aéroports de Montréal welcome Incheon service

On June 18, 2024, KTO, Air Canada and ADM Aéroports de Montréal officially celebrated the inaugural flight and new service from Montreal to Incheon with a launch event and ribbon cutting ceremony at Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport.

Air Canada will operate the Montreal-Incheon flight service four times a week on the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft. The new service is set to run until Oct. 24, 2024.

This marks Air Canada’s third direct route to Seoul, alongside their service from Toronto and Vancouver.

Connecting Quebec to Korea

Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) has partnered with Air Canada on several initiatives to promote the new direct flight service from Montreal to Incheon. This new service represents an important step in connecting Quebecois passengers to South Korea.

To celebrate the launch of this inaugural flight, all passengers received a T-Money Card provided by KTO to be used on Seoul public transit. In addition, KTO also coordinated a Jang-go Dance performance at the gate for passengers to get excited. Jang-go Dance is a traditional folk dance using hourglass shaped drums. Air Canada provided Korean canapes including mini bibimbap
and Korean beef skewers for guests waiting at the gate as an extra touch.

KTO Director Jane Kim made the following statement about the new service, “It’s wonderful to see the expansion of this new Montreal-Incheon route for Canadians traveling to Korea this year. This new route is especially significant this year because 2024 has been designated as the Year of Korea-Canada Cultural Exchange. Last April, WestJet also launched a new air route from Calgary to Incheon. Now we have another new air route from Montreal. Hence this year Korea has four cities that now have direct service to Korea. This is so fascinating and optimistic to me and great news for Korea tourism as well.”

Korea Tourism Organization will also host Soirée découverte de la Corée, a dinner event in Montréal to promote Air Canada’s new YUL-ICN route to tour operators and travel agencies in attendance.

The event will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Montréal on June 20, 2024 and will feature an evening of authentic Korean canapes, drinks and dinner meant to allow operators and agencies to experience a taste of Korea and learn all about the country’s unique offerings for travellers.
