Inspired, Engaged, Excited

Impressive new head office digs for Rocky Mountaineer in Vancouver will have the effect of generating new product concepts, ideas and programs by staff, says the president of the rail-based vacation company.

“This will enable our employees to be more inspired, engaged and excited about their work,” said Rocky Mountaineer president, Steve Sammut.

Sammut recently led an executive team that welcomed journalists and other guests to see the new offices, together with board of directors chair John Furlong and Rocky Mountaineer founder Peter Armstrong — principal of the Armstrong Group, owner and operator of Rocky Mountaineer.

The degree of innovation and attention to employee well being is consistent with the quality of the guest experience delivered by Rocky Mountaineer on their rail tour vacation programs, said Sammut.

In terms of office facilities for staff, that means the inclusion of useful amenities like sit-and-stand computer work desks, furnished common areas for meetings, an outfitted gym, floor to ceiling windows for great views, an outdoor patio with more of the same, a shower room, bike lockers and a fully appointed galley kitchen – and an abundance of natural light.

Rocky Mountaineer has posted double digit growth in recent years, so as additional staff are required, the new headquarters will help attract more talented employees, said Sammut.
