Historic Amway Grand Joins Hilton’s Curio Collection
The historic Amway Grand Plaza, an iconic hotel in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, that has hosted numerous dignitaries, presidents and celebrities, is now part of Curio – A Collection by Hilton.
Originally opened in 1913 as The Pantlind and reopening as the Amway Grand Plaza in 1981, the hotel included one of the world’s largest gold-leaf ceilings in the lobby and is now recognized as a Historical Hotel of America. Today, the hotel combines the heritage of The Pantlind with the classic and contemporary design found in the modern Glass Tower, which reopened in 2014 following a US$14-million renovation.
The property features 682 rooms, including 45 luxurious suites such as the Presidential Suite, Michigan Suite, Van Andel Suite and DeVos Suite, as well as a full service spa and salon, fitness centre with Precor equipment, indoor pool, two hot tubs, sauna and steam room, a lighted tennis court and racquetball court.
The Amway Grand Plaza also boasts eight dining and lounge options, including The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puc – the first US location of Wolfgang’s newest restaurant concept, Cygnus27 featuring Latin-inspired cuisine, Ruth’s Chris Steak House and GP Sports Bar where guests can enjoy a casual dining atmosphere with specialty burgers, pizzas and cocktails – complete with 40 televisions for watching sporting events.
