GreenStep Solutions Approved As UNWTO Affiliate Member
Kelowna, British Columbia-based GreenStep Solutions’ candidature as an Affiliate Member of the UNWTO was officially approved during the 25th Session of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) General Assembly in Samarkand, Uzbekistan.
UNWTO Affiliate Member Director, Ion Vilcu, in his official welcome, said: “The UNWTO considers the private sector as an important partner in fulfilling its general mandate for the promotion of sustainable tourism development and the achievement of the 2030 Agenda,”
And Vilcu continued: “Within this context, we recognize the great potential of the collaboration with your entity to contribute towards the creation of a more ethical and responsible tourism sector, for the benefit of the international community.”
Angela Nagy, President & CEO of GreenStep, said: “I am incredibly honoured to have the opportunity to join this international community of leaders committed to shaping the future of tourism. We are proud to join just five other Canadian affiliate members.”
As one of the world’s most important economic sectors, the tourism industry has the potential to significantly influence the achievement of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
As an Affiliate Member, GreenStep will have the opportunity to collaborate with member states, companies, educational and research institutions, destinations and NGOs around the world, to share information, establish new business relationships, and create innovative products, with the common goal of advancing sustainable tourism.
