Good deeds, well done … Stewart Travel Group raises funds for Hospice PEI on river cruises

Stewart Travel Group returned from two back-to-back river cruise charters in France, bringing home a cheque for $38,700 for Hospice PEI, a community-focused non-profit organization in Prince Edward Island.

The funds were raised through the generosity of nearly 250 cruise guests who joined the trips, hosted by Stewart Travel Group co-owners, Travis and Paula Stewart and their dedicated team.

Onboard AmaWaterways’ AmaCello, the two week-long river journeys featured exclusive musical entertainment. During the first week, guests enjoyed intimate performances by award-winning singer-songwriter Jim Cuddy of Blue Rodeo, fiddler Anne Lindsay, and Cuddy’s talented sons, Sam Polley and Devin Cuddy. Juno award-winning artist Rose Cousins joined the lineup, delivering powerful performances that captivated everyone onboard.

The second week brought rock and blues legend Sass Jordan to the stage, accompanied by acclaimed Canadian musicians Derek Sharp, Steve Marriner, and Chris Caddell, whose talent and energy made each performance unforgettable.

Guests had the opportunity to participate in a unique fundraiser for Hospice PEI by purchasing chances to win intimate artist dinners and one of two river cruises for two, generously donated by AmaWaterways.

Travis Stewart, co-owner of Stewart Travel Group, said that: “Our guests came together in such a meaningful way, showing the true spirit of community and compassion. We feel privileged to be able to provide experiences that not only bring people joy but also create lasting positive impacts back home in PEI. This is a testament to what can happen when people come together for a common purpose.”

Paula Stewart, co-owner of Stewart Travel Group, has volunteered with Hospice PEI for more than 20 years and she shared her heartfelt gratitude for the guests’ support.

“I am beyond grateful for the generosity shown by everyone who joined us. The impact of these donations will be felt across our community, and it fills my heart to see our clients come together to make such a significant difference,” she said.

Nancymarie Arsenault, Executive Director of Hospice PEI, said that: “Hospice PEI’s programs are strengthened by Stewart Travel Group’s ongoing support. Their dedication over the years and their support of our care recipients means more than words can express.”

Frances Gertsch, Trusted Senior Travel Advisor and Manager, Business Development and Talent with Stewart Travel Group, who hosted these cruises with Travis and Paula, reflected on the connections made during the cruises:

Said Gertsch: “It was incredible to see our guests come together over shared passions — whether it was a love for music, a sense of community, or the spirit of travel and adventure. These journeys created bonds that went far beyond the cruise itself, fostering friendships and shared memories that will last a lifetime.”

Stewart Travel Group’s commitment to creating exceptional travel memories and fundraising for their continues with an upcoming river cruise featuring Blue Rodeo on the Danube River, which will provide yet another opportunity to support Hospice PEI.
