Glacier Skywalk A Rocky Mountain High
Glacier Skywalk, a barrier-free walkway and glass-floored observation deck found 280 metres over Jasper National Park’s Sunwapta Valley will open May 1 with a bird’s-eye view of ice-capped mountain peaks, glacier formed valleys and wildlife.
Six interpretive stations scattered along the Discovery Trail highlight the environmental aspects of the glacial valley.
The Glacier Skywalk is higher in elevation than The Eiffel Tower’s upper observation deck by four metres and the high-strength steel rods that act as anchors for the observation deck are buried 16 metres into rock. Combined, the rods are capable of supporting 400,000 pounds.
Tickets start at $24.95 per adult and operation hours vary depending on the time of year.
