FITUR Confirms Dates And Strengthens Health Protocols
IFEMA Madrid will maximizing its health and safety efforts at FITUR, its major international tourism fair, by following a strict health protocol that includes a mandatory requirement for EU visitors to have a valid vaccination certificate in the form of an EU Digital COVID certificate, while citizens of third countries will have to meet the border requirements in force at the time.
Officials indicate that the forecasts for participation at FITUR 2022 are excellent, with levels of representation and international involvement very close to pre-pandemic shows.
FITUR 2022 is set for Jan. 19 to Jan. 23, 2022 will be a strategic event in the drive to boost the global tourism market and offer the entire tourism industry value chain a scenario for the sector’s recovery and growth at both business and international level.
IFEMA MADRID will armour-plate its health security, maximising all the measures that guarantee a successful outcome from the trade fair.
In this vein, and in a context marked by Spain’s high vaccination rate, FITUR 2022 will require all international participants to have valid documentation, such as the EU Digital COVID certificate, for attendees from the European Union or the relevant documentation to meet the official requirements at the border during the period in which FITUR takes place.
IFEMA MADRID has already shown the world that it is possible to host safe events – the FITUR trade fair was held in May 2021 in a truly complex situation – and a rigorous protocol of measures and systems will be redeployed for 2022 to ensure the health and safety of all exhibitors and visitors.
Capacity limits will be observed in all the pavilions, with automated systems for visitor counts and a smart system for the digital analysis of spaces, capacity and visitor behaviour, with continuous monitoring of crowds.
Mask-wearing will also be required inside the IFEMA MADRID facilities, as well as temperature monitoring for attendees, as implemented at all its trade fairs.
Alongside all these measures, one of the safety features that sets IFEMA MADRID’s facilities apart is its powerful advanced ventilation system, which guarantees total elimination of air recirculation, with a filtration system that ensures complete renewal of the air every 20 minutes — a critical element in preventing the spread of pathogens.
These measures are reinforced by visitor flow management and the distribution of spaces to ensure safe social distancing, as well as the availability of hand sanitizer dispensers and disinfectant throughout the exhibition centre and the use of digital passes to avoid contact.
Organized by IFEMA MADRID, the International Tourism Trade Fair will extend across eight pavilions in the Madrid exhibition centre. With one month still to wait, it promises excellent levels of participation — well above the expectations for the special event held last May — with levels of representation and international involvement very close to pre-pandemic shows.
The trade fair will take place from Jan. 19 to Jan. 23, 2022.
