Fireknife competition at PCC on Oahu
The Samoa Festival, Hawaii’s largest Samoan cultural gathering and premier showcase of Samoa’s traditions, will be held at the Polynesian Cultural Center in early May. As part of the celebrations, the festival will be highlighted by the 28th annual World Fireknife Championships, which is a key cultural tradition of the Samoan people.
During the competition, talented fireknife dancers from across the United States as well as Samoa, Tahiti, Japan and Australia will come together at the Polynesian Cultural Center for four nights of heated competition.
From as young as six years old to the most experienced performers, competitors will compete in their respective divisions seeking to win the title of World Fireknife Champion. Attendees will be treated to a cultural experience, while the best of the best are crowned world champion in the women, junior and senior divisions. The festival will take place May 6 to 9. Event tickets are available for purchase.
