Cancun resort proud of its Mexican ambience

Cancun’s Park Royal Beach Resort can offer its clientele both a Mexican vacation experience or a very Mexican vacation experience, with those guests able to choose the degree of familiarization they wish to have with the Latin American country.
Hotel general manager Luz del Carmen Ruiz Rodriguez says that her hotel – part of the Mexico City-based Park Royal Hotels and Resorts chain that has hotels and the Mexican capital, ocean-fronting Mexican resorts, Florida and Argentina – likes to “really focus on being Mexican,” with guests always able to order Mexican restaurant dishes, tequila and mezcal being available in hotel bars, and a new boutique selling clothes and other products produced in area communities alone. Locally produced shampoos and soap can be found in the bathrooms.
“We really try to promote Mexican,” Ruiz Rodriguez said, adding that that differentiates the Park Royal Beach Resort from many of the other all-inclusives in Cancun’s hotel zone, with many of those properties being non-Mexican owned and not differing greatly from all-inclusives elsewhere in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The 310-room, four-star all-inclusive is able to step up the Mexican experience a notch or two with its new Mexican Family Memories Experience, with guests going that route being offered the likes of a pinata they can assemble; a minibar filled with Mexican snacks and drinks alone; a “scents of Mexico” in-room aromatheraphy kit; a pillow menu for children and adults; Mexican-designed beach bag and Mexican souvenir box; a family beach dinner featuring local fare or a kids PJ party in the hotels Kids’ Club, while the parents are served a romantic dinner in either the resort’s Mexican or seafood restaurant; and a nightly turndown surprise such as Mexican cookies and milk. Children’s t-shirts are also provided.
“I think that what Park Royal has recognized is the value that the all-inclusive brings and you cross that with a Mexican experience and that’s what we do differently. It’s true to its [Mexican] roots,” Ruiz Rodriguez continues.
May will see the launch of another experience option called Balance, which will include spa treatments that have Mexican touches, while July will see the arrival of Culinary, which will further familiarize visitors with Mexican cuisine.
The Park Royal Beach Restaurant has dining options, and among its bars is the Ekinox skybar, which has a Cuban band playing salsa music.
Guests can also use the bars and restaurants at a sister property two kilometres away that falls under Royal’s five-star brand.
Other Park Royal Beach Resort features include three swimming pools, and an on-site Maya archeological site that reaches the equivalent of four floors in height.
Ruiz Rodriguez adds that her hotel’s rooms are larger than average for Cancun, with the smallest being 120 square feet.
