RIU Hotels & Resorts has opened Splash Water World, an area with water attractions in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.
It “will add colour, adrenaline and fun to the holidays of its guests. This is truly a new feature at RIU, which is for the first time opening an establishment specializing in aquatic activities,” the company says. This space, in which the hotel operator has invested $3.5 million, is reserved for the exclusive use of guests at the five hotels RIU has in its complex. Children and adults staying at the Riu Naiboa, Riu Palace Punta Cana, Riu Palace Macao, ClubHotel Riu Bambu and Riu Palace Bavaro have free admission to the aquatic zone on Calle Caribeña.
The main water attractions are Aquaracer, a four-lane, high-speed slide; Aquashute, a closed-water tube; Body Vortex, a slide that “shoots” the person towards the pool; Kamikaze Slide, which has a steep slope; and Stuka, a free-fall slide. The youngest visitors will also have fun at Splash Water World in Punta Cana, as the facilities include a children’s pool with slides and special attractions just for them. The aquatic complex also has a solarium, where visitors can sunbathe in lounge chairs, and a bar for enjoying soft drinks, juices and water.
Splash Water World is the latest innovation the hotel chain has introduced in the Dominican enclave in the 25 years since it became established there.
