The Feb. 19 to March 1 16th edition of the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival has been chosen by UNESCO as a special event as part of its International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies. December saw the United Nations proclaim that 2015 would be the International Year of Light and Light-Based Technologies. MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE has light in its name and in its mission for over 15 years. Alongside its performing arts and fine dining programming, the festival stands out for an array of free outdoor light-based activities integrated with digital arts and interactive initiatives. Every year, for 10 days and nights, hundreds of thousands of festival-goers stroll about downtown Montreal, in the Quartier des Spectacles, discovering the joys of winter from a new perspective.
