The Ministry of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, through its Tourism Promotion Office, recently hosted the Dominican Food Festival in the Omni Mont-Royal Hotel in Montreal.
The festival showcased the Dominican culture through the senses with a full day of activities including a chocolate tasting, a special lunch menu prepared by celebrated Dominican chef, Ines Paez Nin, also known as Chef Tita, and a display of arts and crafts.
Cosette García, director of the Dominican Republic Tourism Promotion Office, said the festival is an important initiative towards the acknowledgement of the rich Dominican culture and its exclusive gastronomy offering.
“It’s a blend of Spanish, indigenous Taíno, and African influences that tells the whole story of our nation which is revealed through truly unique flavours. We are proud of this event and the special opportunity it gives its attendees to grasp our culinary history and the many reasons why we are considered as one of the best gourmet destinations in the Caribbean,” he said.
