As the 2016 Alaska cruise ship season was coming to a close, the state was happy to announce that it had welcomed its one millionth cruise ship visitor for the first time in seven years.
A couple from St. Albert, AB were met with city and cruise ship officials as they disembarked in Juneau, Alaska and were told that they had cracked the one million mark. Native dancers greeted the couple and Wendy Yoisten received a medallion, plaque and basket of gifts from Alaska businesses as the one millionth visitor.
The day of her arrival – Sept. 22 – was proclaimed as Alaska Cruise Ship Visitor Day.
