Destination Weddings Heat Up NACTA Agenda
Travel consultants are clamoring for training and certification enabling them to sell destination weddings and honeymoons in one of the hottest segments of leisure travel, according to the National Association of Career Travel Agents, and NACTA is delivering at its 2014 annual conference.
“The interest among independent travel consultants in wedding and honeymoon travel is so intense, we are including and highlighting this training and course work toward certification at our annual conference,” says NACTA president Ann van Leeuwen (pictured).
Van Leeuwen expects the workshops at NACTA’s conference at the Sheraton WildHorse Pass Resort & Spa in Phoenix, Oct. 30 to Nov. 3, to be very popular with consultants. This travel segment will be sharing the spotlight with cruise at the conference.
The NACTA annual conference helps independent agents learn how to keep their businesses current. “There is nothing in travel more current than the exciting wedding and honeymoon business,” says van Leeuwen. “It’s hot and getting hotter.”
The conference links consultants with suppliers and gives attendees advice on negotiating, marketing strategies, agency branding and social media to target new customers, with advice from guest speakers from the wedding/honeymoon and cruise segments of the industry. There is also a chance to become certified as a “Hawaii Specialist,” an important designation since Hawaii is near the top of the world’s favoured wedding and honeymoon destinations.
“We customized this year’s annual conference to include and highlight destination weddings and honeymoons because, frankly, no organization for travel agents can ignore this profitable and highly competitive area,” says van Leeuwen. “There are so many groups popping up for wedding/honeymoon travel that we want our consultants to get the best advice and support from a source they can trust.”
