Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) has released its cruisExcellence 2016 schedule that includes a stop in Toronto on Sept. 10.

CLIA’s cruisExcellence is a regional training program featuring live, instructor-led training, virtual ship inspections and informative workshops. Attendees also have the opportunity to win prizes from cruise lines, CLIA and industry partners.

Training topics are designed to expand an agent’s cruise industry knowledge, broaden destination awareness and sharpen sales skills.

Participating CLIA Individual Travel Agent Members currently enrolled in either the Accredited Cruise Counsellor (ACC) or Master Cruise Counsellor (MCC) certification programs, and who complete the full day of training, will earn up to 50 elective credits towards their certification completion. In addition to the 50 elective credits received for completing the full day, CLIA members who take the training quizzes online after the event will receive 10 credits for each quiz passed.

The Toronto event begins at 7:30 a.m. All cruisExcellence courses are $99 for CLIA members and non-members.

“The cruise industry continues to evolve and has more options than ever before, so we refreshed our training program with new, relevant content specifically for our cruise-focused travel professionals,” said Cindy D’Aoust, acting CEO, CLIA. “More importantly, education and professional development continues to be a top priority for our members and CLIA, therefore it is important for us to offer both in-person and online formats to meet the needs of our travel agents’ preferred learning styles.”
