The Cayman Islands Appoint New Director of Tourism
The Cayman Islands Department of Tourism has appointed a new director of tourism, Rosa Harris.
Based in Grand Cayman, Harris assumed the post on July 1 and has had a long history with the department and within the tourism industry of the Cayman Islands.
“I am very pleased that such a qualified individual as Mrs. Harris has been identified for the role of director of tourism,” commented Minister of Tourism Moses Kirkconnell. “During her tenure with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Mrs. Harris has played an integral role in many of the department’s successful endeavours and continuously contributes to the betterment of our tourism product locally, while elevating our positioning globally as the destination of choice in the Caribbean.”
Harris, who obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from Cornell University and her Master’s in Business Administration from Manchester University, has previously served as the acting director of tourism, as well as the national promotions and events manager.
She has served as the interim chairman of both the Public Transportation Board and the Hotel Licensing Board, roles she will continue as director. She is also the deputy chairman of the Cayman Islands Hospitality School Council, Tourism Attractions Board and the Cayman Islands Marketing Professionals Association. Prior to working at the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism, Harris worked in the tourism private sector at leading hotel properties.
