One of Victoria's landmark hotels, Executive House, will re-open this spring as the new DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel and Suites Victoria following the completion of a multi-million dollar property-wide renovation. The president of the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association says CHTA members are well aware that the looming rapprochement between the Cuban and American governments may hit some of them in the pocketbook, reports Press Today's Ian Stalker, who's just returned for the annual conference. A Grand New Velas
Mexico's Velas Resorts is getting set to add to its portfolio of luxury all-inclusive resorts in Mexico. PressToday's Greg Coates is in Mexico and reports that Velas will expand into Los Cabos. Wyndham Hotel Group, a subsidiary of Wyndham Worldwide, has acquired Dolce Hotels and Resorts, which has a portfolio of 24 properties and over 5,500 guestrooms across seven countries in Europe and North America, for $57 million in cash.
