New tourism program for Bow Valley College
To help fill critical roles in the tourism sector in Alberta, Bow Valley College (BVC) is introducing its Tourism Management and Marketing Diploma in fall 2012, allowing learners to enter the tourism industry in just two years. This program combines tourism-sector knowledge with marketing, management and product development. Coast Hotels & Resorts recently announced its top-performing hotels and sales professionals for 2011. These were selected from 31 Coast properties in Western Canada. For instance, Vancouver's Coast Coal Harbour Hotel took top honours for guest satisfaction receiving the best satisfaction, intent to return and value (SIRV) award among owned and managed hotels, as measured by guest comment cards. Food bank collections equals free breakfast at Ala Moana
The Ala Moana Hotel has just started its annual efforts to collect food donations for the Hawaii Foodbank. The hotel is inviting guests to make donations in exchange for a classic, full island breakfast buffet. Any guest staying at the hotel who contributes either two kilos or six cans of food items from March 1 to April 15 will receive a coupon to enjoy a breakfast at Plantation Café. Vail Resorts pens Kirkwood deal
Vail Resorts, Inc has reached an agreement to acquire Kirkwood Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe, California. Vail Resorts is purchasing the ski resort as well as the undeveloped sites at the centre of the base area which are zoned for residential and commercial development for a purchase price of approximately $18.0 million. The seller will retain a participation interest in the base area parcels and will continue to own the remainder of the real estate development sites. This summer Whistler's Momentum Ski Camps will offer "Exposure," a new film and photography camp for youth and young adults, taught by some of action sports' most successful professional filmmakers and photographers.
