Homewood breaks ground in Winnipeg
Atlific Hotels reports that construction has begun on Homewood Suites by Hilton, Winnipeg Polo Park. Alberta sizzles in 2012
The summer of 2012 proved a sizzling season for the Alberta hotel industry. According to HotelsCombined's year-on-year price index, average nightly rates in the oil-laden province soared in comparison to the rest of Canada. Based on average hotel prices throughout June, July and August, all major Alberta destinations experienced significant hotel rate increases in summer 2012 compared to summer 2011, with an average upturn of 16%. Hawaiian regional carrier, Island Air, has signed a letter of intent leasing five ATR 42 jet prop aircraft and marking the next step in the carrier's New Business Plan (NBP) launched earlier this year. Atlantic City reports that business is good these days. More than 19,500 visitors stopped for information, directions and reservations at the Visitor Information Centers operated by the Atlantic City Convention & Visitors Authority (ACCVA) on the Boardwalk and the Atlantic City Expressway, a 24% jump from last August, and contributing to a year-to-date increase of 10% over year-to-date 2011.
