MSC Cruises continues its expansion with the announcement that the company has finalized negotiations with STX France and signed a contract to take over a 139,400-ton cruise ship following the termination of the agreement with the original owner. The new ship is named MSC Preziosa and will become the 13th addition to the MSC Cruises fleet, as well as the fourth vessel in the series of Fantasia-class ships, which include MSC Fantasia, MSC Splendida and the MSC Divina. Despite earlier reports that Niagara's Maid of the Mist would cease operations, the historic boat tour operator will return to the water for the 2012 season on both sides of the Niagara River Gorge, delivering its 166th year of tours to the base of the Horseshoe Falls. Maid of the Mist officials have completed discussions with the Niagara Parks Commission regarding operational issues and have decided that the tours will go forward for 2012.
