2016 Student Ambassadors Celebrated In Toronto
Remember these names: Larissa Machulec of Humber College; Aminah Housermann of Ryerson University; Sara Grainger of Algonquin College; Vanessa Teran of Sheridan College; Danielle Murray of Confederation College; and Bryannah Day of Mohawk College.
They’re the 2016 Baxter Student Ambassadors and they were honoured in Toronto yesterday (May 4) at a special celebration and presentation event at the Chelsea Hotel Toronto.
Baxter Travel Media (BTM) hosted the reception, welcoming about 60 travel trade types, educators and students to the event.
BTM’s Student Ambassador Program (BSAP) was launched in 2014-2015 with Humber College and in 2016, it was expanded to include Sheridan College, Ryerson University, Algonquin College, Confederation College and Mohawk College as well as Humber College.
BSAP is the only travel and tourism student mentoring program of its kind in Canada, offering learning and networking opportunities for aspiring travel industry professionals.
The program is based on a combination of academic success, industry and community involvement, leadership skills and a skill-testing webinar presentation – once the program is completed, one graduating Student from each participating school is selected as the Baxter Student Ambassador winner.
Sponsors of the 2016 Baxter Student Ambassador Program (BSAP) included: Sandals, Transat, WestJet & Princess Resorts and Hotels, ACTA, Skal, The Chelsea Hotel Toronto and Sabre.
BTM is already gearing up for BSAP 2017, announcing during the Toronto event that it would be expanding the program nationally next year.
