Britain Rules At Vegas Show

A little bit of Britain came to Las Vegas this week, with British tourism suppliers descending on the desert for the Destination Britain North America 2014 show.

Travel and holiday providers, including hoteliers, attractions operators and tour companies, came from England, Scotland and Wales for the show, held at the Cosmopolitan Hotel. They met product buyers from the U.S. and Canada for this seventh edition of the trade meeting – the second to be held in Las Vegas. Attendance by delegates was up over last year, which was also staged in Vegas, said Lynda Falcone of the Visit Britain office in Toronto.

Visit Britain brought good news to the gathering, telling attendees that the after-effects of the 2012 – the year of the London Olympics and a Royal wedding – were paying off for tourism. Arrivals were up in 2013, and were continuing to rise in 2012, said Christopher Rodrigues, chairman of Visit Britain (seen in photo).

He welcomed attendees before they started an intensive two-day schedule of timed meetings on the conference floor of the Cosmpolitan. By the time they were finished, all were looking forward to some relax time on the pool deck of the hotel on a hot Vegas night.
