Avalon Introduces ‘Suite’ Sailings on the Mekong
Avalon Waterways is now offering travellers the opportunity to live the “suite life” in Asia with the introduction of a new 36-guest Suite Ship – Avalon Siem Reap – on the Mekong River.
“Our wildly popular Suite Ship design is taking on Southeast Asia, sailing through Vietnam and Cambodia,” said Patrick Clark, managing director of Avalon Waterways. “This new, intimate ship which holds only 36 travellers, paired with our immersive Local Favorites program – including such delights as a traditional water blessing and Vietnamese cooking class – were designed to spotlight the unique stories along the Mekong, inspiring an unparalleled Asia vacation.”
Built by local craftsman, the ship reflects the character, symbols and traditions of the areas through which it sails while also offering passengers the modern features they expect and enjoy.
On this new Suite Ship, travellers are welcomed by 18 well-appointed Avalon Suites with 245-square-feet of living space and signature Open-Air Balconies featuring floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall panoramic windows measuring over four metres wide with retractable screen systems and doors that slide open almost three metres. In front of each Open-Air Balcony is a private sitting area, complete with love seat, chairs and table.
“This Suite Ship mirrors the experience found on our Suite Ships in Europe. But, perhaps as important as the attention to detail and appointments found on this ship is its overall size,” says Clark. “Featuring only 18 suites, this vessel was designed to traverse more of the Mekong River, providing travellers the chance to enjoy more of Asia. The Avalon Siem Reap is the only ship in the industry cruising all the way from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap (or vice versa), as water levels allow. And when sailing into the Ho Chi Minh harbour, Avalon guests are just minutes away from their deluxe hotel accommodations.”
For travellers interested in sailing the Mekong this year, Avalon Waterways is offering specials, including $299 air – taxes included – or savings of up to $2,000 per couple on select departures. For 2016, the company is currently offering savings of 10% off.
