Bahia Principe says it has built an unrivalled presence in Punta Cana, with the Spanish hotel chain noting it arrived there in 2004, and now has seven upscale all-inclusive resorts for its sun-seeking guests to choose from.
Bahia Principe’s Bavaro Resort features what Helen Montijano, Bahia Principe’s vice-president of sales and marketing for the USA and Canada, labels “seven distinct properties, 4,110 rooms and endless opportunities for guests to experience happiness.”
The Bahia Principe complex has five family-friendly properties, among them the Luxury Bahia Principe Fantasia Don Pablo Collection, with Montijano stating that “Fantasia offers everything guests need for an adventurous, family vacation, including a fairytale castle that brings out any guests’ inner child the moment they step out from their transportation and into the resort’s airy lobby.”
Next door is Luxury Bahia Principe Esmeralda, home to what Bahia Principe bills as an “expansive spa and prime beachfront access.”
The Grand Bahia Principe Turquesa offers family accommodations that include Family Junior Suites and Family Master Suites, the brand’s largest waterpark and a kids’ spa; while the mirroring Grand Bahia Principe Bavaro and Grand Bahia Principe Punta Cana are the largest properties in the complex, featuring 744 and 756 rooms, respectively.
Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Green and Luxury Bahia Principe Ambar Blue provide adults-only vacations.
The seven resorts share Bahia Principe Village, a shopping centre that includes stores with local crafts.
“All seven resorts in Punta Cana are five-star properties,” Montijano reports. “Four also carry the Don Pablo Collection seal, designating Bahia Principe’s highest level of luxury. This includes unlimited à la carte dinners, butler service and personalized assistance, premium minibars, 24-hour room service, complimentary WiFi and other amenities.”
Montijano says Punta Cana offers “miles and miles of idyllic beaches,” along with numerous water and land sports, and cultural experiences.
Bahia Principe is represented in other parts of the Dominican Republic, having two properties in La Romana, found halfway between the capital of Santo Domingo and Punta Cana. It also has four other properties in Samana that collectively have 1,318 rooms.
In all, the company has over 7,000 hotel rooms throughout the Dominican Republic.
Montijano praises Bahia Principe as a “family owned and operated” business that has “always valued the importance of curated experiences based on guests’ budgets, interests and needs.”
Meanwhile, Montijano is upbeat about the Dominican Republic’s tourism prospects, reporting that last year saw travel to the country rise 6.5%, resulting in 6.1 million tourists.
Punta Cana is the main point of entry into the country, and Canadians account for the second-largest group of visitors, trailing only Americans. “To us, numbers indicate that Punta Cana’s tourism industry is doing well and its popularity, particularly among Canadians, is high and continuing to rise,” Montijano says.
Montijano also notes that it’s been less than a year since Bahia Principe launched its loyalty program, Bahia Principe Rewards. “We felt we had a missing link when it came to thanking our travel partners and with this program we show our appreciation.”
