Alitalia Upgrading Res System
Alitalia is advising agents that from 2:00 pm EST on Oct 14, 2016 until Oct. 15, 2016, it will be implementing an important upgrade of its airline reservation systems.
During this period, flights will operate as normal and your clients’ itineraries will not be affected.
However GDS functionalities and online and call centre services will not be available.
Agents will not be able to complete the following services on behalf of their clients:
- Create and modify the bookings
- Purchase and issue new tickets
- Re-issue or re-validate tickets
- Purchase Ancillary Services
- Complete refunds and cancellations
- Use Web check in
- Use Self check in
Airport check-in will be available during the upgrade and extra staff will be available to assist passengers at the airport.
For flights departing on Oct 15 and Oct. 16, agents are being advised that tickets can only be issued until 4:00 pm EST on Oct. 14, 2016, and it is strongly recommended that agents inform their clients to finalize the purchase of the tickets within that date
Agents should inform their clients to check-in online as soon as possible before 2:00 pm EST on Fri., Oct. 14.
Alternatively, check-in at the airport and arrive well in advance.
Check-in counters will be open 3 hours before for domestic flights, and 4 hours for international flight.

Alitalia anticipates that the upgrade will be completed by Sunday evening and the airline said it will be in-touch with more details.
