Holland America Line (HAL) recently hosted a fundraiser luncheon and survivor celebration for the Puget Sound affiliate of Susan G. Komen Puget Sound, onboard Westerdam at the Port of Seattle. Breast cancer survivor Juliet Disparte gave an inspiring speech about her journey from her diagnosis at the age of 27 to her current role in numerous cancer organizations. To enhance the celebrations, the band Cinderella’s Dirty Little Secret entertained attendees in the ship’s main show lounge during the program. Prior to the entertainment, guests enjoyed lunch in the main dining room. “Cancer is a disease that affects nearly everyone in some way, and by supporting organizations like Susan G. Komen we’re able to join the fight in finding a cure,” said HAL president Orlando Ashford. “This is our 10th year of hosting this luncheon and we always look forward to celebrating with survivors, as well as helping the organization’s efforts to eradicate this disease.” Each year, Holland America hosts more than 25 shipboard charity luncheons for nearly 5,000 guests in its homeport cities.
